Its namesake is derived from the shared name of the three Greek gods of the winds, which was the first thing the founder of the town thought of when he whimsically stumbled upon the land. Aeolus is generally a nice, cozy little town where most, if not all, faces are familiar. Inhabitants usually come from all sorts of backgrounds and often stay because there is a sense of safety and tranquility in the close-knit community, though there are other reasons as well. The local high school and university are filled with teachers that are professional and dedicated to their careers, and a large percentage of students graduate with acceptable grades. However, living in this small community has its downsides. Scandals spread quickly like a virus, and it doesn't take much to pin individuals as participants in all sorts of gossip. Fellow residents may act welcoming, but they are often prepared to shun when they hear of wrecked reputations. Teenagers function under a secret hierarchy that exists regardless of whether it is acknowledged or not. They may show you a friendly smile, but a good number of them are full of malice and greed when the prize is a step up the social ladder. The life at Aeolus is certainly enjoyable, but one wrong step may completely change that. [/classy] |
